Steve Sullivan

Steve Sullivan (Dallas, TX) served as vice president/operations for the newspaper division of The E. W. Scripps Company from September, 2000 until he retired in December, 2004.

Steve began his newspaper career as an account executive at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times in 1970. In 1972, he was named national advertising manager at the Caller-Times. He became national sales manager in 1974 for Harte-Hanks Communications in Dallas and was later named corporate director/advertising. He returned as advertising director of the Caller-Times in 1977 and in 1979 became marketing director of the Caller-Times. In 1980, he became general manager of the San Angelo Standard-Times. He returned to the Caller-Times as general manager in 1982, where he was later named president. In 1984, he assumed group president responsibilities for six newspapers in Harte-Hanks Southern Region. In December 1987, Sullivan was promoted to publisher of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and in February 1991, became president of Harte-Hanks Newspapers and senior vice president of Harte-Hanks Communications Inc. In October 1997, he was named vice president of newspapers for The E. W. Scripps Company when it purchased the former Harte-Hanks Newspapers. He remained publisher and president of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and vice president, newspapers for The E. W. Scripps Company until his promotion in September of 2000.

A graduate of East Texas State University with a degree in advertising and public relations, Sullivan has been active in the Corpus Christi community, including serving as chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Economic Development Board, chairman of the Texas State Aquarium, chairman of the Christus Spohn Health System and chairman of The University of Texas College of Communication Advisory Council. He has also been active in various newspaper industry organizations. Steve currently resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife Janis.
